: The collection of plants used in the study complies with local or national guidelines with no need for further affirmation. There was no collection/sampling/identification of wild/endangered species.

: The datasets generated during and/or analyzed during the current study are available from the corresponding author on reasonable request.

: Ethics approval to meet and conduct research in communities in the littoral region of Cameroon was provided by the Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Agronomy and Agricultural Sciences of the University of Dschang, and approved by local administrative authorities in the study area.

: Informed consent was obtained from the participants to participate in the current study. All participants were above 18 years.
