: This research was carried out within the German National Data Center activities based on its mandate towards verification of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). Ground-truth data (see supplementary material) of the event time for 172 Ariane 5 engine tests, of which 159 were selected for this study, were kindly provided by the German Aerospace Center’s (DLR) Institute for Space Propulsion at Lampoldshausen. Atmospheric model data were retrieved from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), see . The infrasound data of BGR station IS26 are freely available from the European Integrated Data Archive (EIDA) via e.g. the Federation of Digital Seismograph Networks (FDSN) web service, accessible at .
