: In accordance with European (Directive 2010/63/EU), Spanish (Real Decreto 1386/2018), and Catalan (Decret 214/1997) regulations, experiments involving insects are exempt from requiring ethical committee approval. Nevertheless, samplings were carried out efficiently to minimize damage to the nests, and the colonies maintained in the laboratory were regularly monitored to ensure they remained in optimal conditions.
