: From a confidentiality and societal security viewpoint the study could be considered sensitive. However, the alternative of not conducting scientific research on this topic could result in areas of MI improvement remaining undetected, possibly causing a risk of impaired patient care in case of MI event. As to protecting patient safety, the project was reviewed by Regional Ethical Committee (REK Nord case 488690) and was found not to require REC approval according to national legislation and general requirements related to medical research, since it did not involve patient data. The project was conferred by Helse-Bergen Data Protection Officer (referral number 2022/12385-107875/2022), who had no remarks related to use of data on individuals according to requirements in general data protection regulations (GDPR). The focus in the survey was on organisation and working methods regarding MCI/MI. Participants in the study were in general not asked to answer questions related to classified information as defined in national security legislation. In a few questions the answer option “classified” was given. Results were collected with a secure software and presented as a national overview without identifying individual organisations on a local level. Therefore, the possible treat for disclosing information on vulnerabilities in specific organisations was regarded negligible.
: Participation in the survey was voluntary and anonymous. This was explained thoroughly in the invitation letter that provided the respondents the link to participate in the web-based survey. The invitation letter to the participants was conferred with Helse-Bergen Data protection officer in advance of the study.
