: This retrospective chart review study involving human participants was in accordance with the ethical standards of the institutional and national research committee and with the 1964 Helsinki Declaration and its later amendments or comparable ethical standards. The Swedish Ethical Review Authority approved this study (Dnr 2019–05976). All the surgical procedures being performed were part of the routine care.
: All patients were informed, through a standardized letter at discharge, that data regarding their hospital stay, as well as on 30 days chart review follow-up, would be collected in a local quality register, available for retrospective research. In the letter, patients and parents of patients aged < 18 years received instructions of who to contact, in order to not be included in the local register and thus excluded from the current study.
