: This study was approved by the Regional Ethics Committee, Uppsala University Dnr 2019–05976 and Dnr 2020–03849. Use of local registers was approved by the South Stockholm General Hospital Ethics Committe. All surgical procedures being performed were part of routine care.
: In a standard letter given at discharge. The patients were informed that data regarding their hospital stay, as well as on 30 days follow-up, would be collected in a local quality register, that could be used for retrospective research. In the letter, the patients and parent of patients < 18 years old were informed that their data could be removed from the register at any time, and told who to contact if they did not wish to be included in the local register (thus excluded from the present study).
