: This research was conducted in accordance with the principles of the Helsinki Declaration and its subsequent amendments or comparable ethical standards. Our study protocol has been approved by the relevant ethics committee (A 2022-0079) and all the procedures being performed were part of the routine care.

: The analysed data are all retrospective and from routine care. All patients signed an informed consent. Following the implementation of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in May 2018, a declaration of consent has been obtained for each patient from the DGU trauma register. This has been achieved through the use of a standardised information sheet.
