: PBMCs were purified from buffy coats obtained from the Transfusion Center of the University of Rome “La Sapienza” as waste material resulting from the procedures of plasma/platelet/red blood isolation from whole blood of healthy donors. According to the Italian law on this matter (Legislative Decree of the Italian Ministry of Health of January 25, 2001, published on the Official Gazette of April 3, 2001), informed consents are not required to obtain such a material. The studies were approved by the ethical committee of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità. The manuscript does not contain animal studies.
