: The Centre for Wildlife Forensic Sciences, Advanced Institute for Wildlife Conservation, Chennai, India, has been notified as a ‘Government Scientific Expert’ under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 . Consequently, the AIWC receives seized samples from the court or government enforcement officials for species identification purposes. In this context, the case samples discussed in this manuscript were obtained at our institute for analysis.
