: The experimental procedures were approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee at the IIBR (Protocols No. P-05-19, P-07-20 and P-05-22), and are in strict accordance with the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, The National Academies Press, Washington DC, 2011. The study was designed to prevent any unnecessary animal discomfort. A humane end point for euthanasia was defined as lack of approach to food and/or water for > 24 h.
