Declarations
:
: Blood samples used in this study came either from samples donated to Instituto Português de Sangue e Transplantação (outdated transfusions, used in the validation experiments), from autopsies performed at Instituto Nacional de Medicina Legal e Ciências Forenses (Portugal) or collected by police authorities under the legislation on driving under the influence of alcohol or psychotropic substances. All these samples were analyzed anonymously within the scope of routine laboratorial work (analysis of psychotropic substances), and therefore there was no requirement for ethical approval.
