: According to the Normative Instruction 154/March 2007, all capture, tagging, sampling and transport of biological samples of wild animals for scientific purposes must have approval from Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBio) SISBIO committees in Brazil. This study was approved and conducted under SISBIO licenses #4276021, #14122, #159622, and #2818721 and by the Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente (IBAMA) ABIO license #1340/2020. Institutional animal care and use approval was obtained under License number CEUA-UFES 28/2022, (Comitê de Ética de Uso dos Animais da UFES). For the Uruguay samples, the study was approved by the Fauna Department-Ministry of Cattle, Agriculture and Fishing of Uruguay under the licenses No. 200/04, 073/08, 323/11 and 12/14 and licenses DF141/16 and 4/2018 from DINAMA-MVOTMA. CITES permits for export and import of samples were obtained. SisGen access receipt number #A98 FDEC (Sistema Nacional de Gestão do Patrimônio Genético e do Conhecimento Tradicional Associado).
