: The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) of the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) was established in 1993 to ensure that international standards for animal care and use are followed in all ILRI research involving use of animals. The original study in which bovine BJ182 was infected, in 1992, was specifically approved by ILRI’s IACUC.
