: This study was conducted in collaboration with the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) and the Laboratory of Radioisotopes (LRI), University of Antananarivo, Madagascar. Soil samples were collected from various land covers in Andasibe, Eastern Madagascar, and DNA was extracted at LRI. The DNA samples were then shipped to JIRCAS for molecular analysis, following the receipt of the import permit from the relevant Japanese authorities and export approval from the Nagoya Protocol focal point in Madagascar. All laboratory analyses adhered to the applicable institutional, national, and international guidelines and regulations.
