: This paper images and pathology slides from patients treated at Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin. These patients were enrolled in the Future of Colorectal Cancer Surgery (FOCCuS1) study [NCT04220242]. Ethics approval was granted by the Mater Hospital research ethics committee.
