: The study only implied the recording at distance of macaques, being purely observational and conducted without any contact or manipulation of animals. Specifically, the recording of animals adheres to the guidelines proposed by the Animal Behavior Society and by the Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour (e.g., recording distance). Therefore, the ethics committee of the University of Pisa waived the need for a permit.
