: The study was carried out in accordance with the current Polish law. Birds were ringed and measured under the licence provided to KS by the Polish Ornithological Station in Gdańsk. Blood and feather samples were collected following the permission of the Local Ethics Commission in Poznań number 13/2021. Fieldwork (including searching for and monitoring nests and taking pictures of eggs) followed the permits of the Regional Directorate of Environment Protection in Poznań numbers: WPN-II.6401.345.2019.KL (2020), WPN-II.6401.77.2021.MT (2021) and WST.6401.92.2022.MT.2 (2022).
