: Great horned owls are protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (16 USC §§703-712). We conducted all raptor management activities under federal and state permits issued by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the states of California, Colorado, and Missouri. Similarly, all banding and marking activities were conducted under permits issued by the USGS Bird Banding Laboratory and the aforementioned states. This work was conducted under National Wildlife Research Center (NWRC) Quality Assurance Protocol (QA-3241) and was reviewed and approved by the NWRC Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.
