: The baseline cohort of the patients examined in this study (total of 273 patients) has been previously studied in a publication by this group (AJR Am J Roentgnol 2019;213(2):318–324). However, that study focused on the value of the CT markers of lung volume at a single point in time. Moreover, there are five previous publications examining automated textural analysis of lung fibrosis in IPF by Jacob et al. (J Thoracic Imaging. 2016;31(5):304–11 with total of 283 patients in the study, Eur Respir J 2017 Jan 25;49(1):1601011 with total of 283 patients in the study, Eur Respir J. 2017 Jul 5;50(1):1700379 with total of 272 patients in the study, Eur Radiol. 2018 Mar;28(3):1318–1327 with total of 66 patients in the study, Am J Respir Crit Care Med 2018;198(6):767–76 with total of 247 patients in the study). However, in those studies, lung volumes, including the CT surrogates for lung volumes that we describe in the current manuscript, and their impact on predicting mortality, were not studied.
