: The current study population (<i>n</i> = 92) has previously undergone MR-based measurement of regional fat depots and LV structure and function. These results were reported in: Edin C, Ekstedt M, Scheffel T et al Ectopic fat is associated with cardiac remodeling—A comprehensive assessment of regional fat depots in type 2 diabetes using multiparametric MRI. Front Cardiovasc Med. 2022 Jul 28;9:813427. . In the current paper, several additional MR sequences were utilized, yielding data on liver fibrosis (MR elastography), myocardial tissue characteristics (native T1 and T2). We have also quantified circulating cardiovascular biomarkers of inflammation and fibrosis, as well as applied for and received access to additional core data from SCAPIS (e.g., liver biochemistry). The current results have been presented as a conference abstract at ESC Congress 2023 and published in an abstract supplement: Edin C, Ekstedt M, Karlsson M et al Liver fibrosis is associated with left ventricular remodeling: insights into the liver-heart axis.
