: In view of the retrospective nature of the database and all the procedures being performed were part of the routine care no formal ethics committee was sought by the Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Group of the Portuguese Society of Diabetology. This work refers to a retrospective observational study using data from a formal and well-established national gestational diabetes mellitus database from the Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Group of the Portuguese Society of Diabetology. All data were anonymously collected and analysed.
