The study was approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee (Medical), University of the Witwatersrand (HREC-Medical: M210855).
: A consent to participate statement is not possible due to the nature of the sample. Individuals included in the study originated from the Johannesburg Forensic Paediatric Collection (JFPC) which falls under the Department of Forensic Medicine, University of the Witwatersrand, and the Johannesburg Forensic Pathology Services. Individuals included were unclaimed and unidentified human remains. Permission for inclusion of individuals was obtained through the necessary authorities in accordance with the regulations and laws governing forensic services in South Africa.
