: Ethical approval for this study was provided by the local ethics committee in Zurich, Switzerland (Kantonale Ethikkommision, KEK-ZH-Nr. 2013-0086), and the study was conducted in full compliance with Swiss laws and regulations. The requirements of the local ethics committee included written informed consent from family members. If no family members were available, SUD cases were irreversibly anonymized. Heart tissue from control cases was collected during autopsy procedure in accordance with the Swiss Human Research Act (Humanforschungsgesetz, HFG, 810.30 article 38). The collected tissue and the required case information of the control cases were irreversibly anonymized.
