: Data was collected as part of the following study: ‘Digital pathology for reporting histopathology samples, including cancer screening samples – definitive evidence from a multi-site study’, for which the protocol was reviewed and approved by the Health Regulation Authority (HRA) and Research Ethics Committee (REC), ISRCTN number 14513591, IRAS number 258799, 2018. The samples recruited from Oxford (renal) had generic consent for research. Consent was not sought for the remaining cases.
: DS reports he is a co-founder, director and shareholder of Histofy Ltd, a start-up company developing artificial intelligence algorithms for digital pathology. DS has also worked in the past as a member of Philips computational pathology advisory board and has received an honorarium from Oliver Wyman New York USA. HE reports working ad hoc part-time sessions for Histofy Ltd. No other authors report any conflicts of interest.
