: This was a retrospective study including many patients deceased after the stroke. Although an informed consent could not be obtained, at the time of hospitalization patients were informed that their data could be used for research purposes. The study was approved by our Hospital-University Ethics Committee (Area Vasta Emilia Centro – AVEC – 198/2021/Oss/AOUBo) and has therefore been performed in accordance with the ethical standards laid down in the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki and its later amendments.
