: This study was co-produced with input from patients and members of the public. The study was reviewed by over 30 members of The Royal Marsden Patient and Carer Research Review Panel three times (January and July 2017, October 2019). The Patient and Carer Research Review Panel is a rigorous PPI platform where there is extensive discussion (and transcription of those discussions for subsequent action) and shaping of design. The Triggers project was presented at the ideas stage, where PPI members shaped the project, as described by the addition of the qualitative element. The project was well received, with lengthy discussion and unanimous agreement about the aims of the project; panel members provided feedback and suggestions, which were incorporated into the design. A member of the panel (MP) was involved in the protocol development and submission for REC approval, study design and delivery, qualitative data analysis, review and interpretation of the results and drafting of the manuscript.
