: While there are many models of early palliative care emerging, our novel intervention at the time of referral to a cancer centre, during the diagnostic phase, and prior to oncology consultation, overcomes many cited barriers. It also allows for earlier palliative intervention for patients with advanced cancers associated with rapid disease progression. This information may assist other programs in providing better access to early palliative care.
