: The ELEGANCE study enrolled patients admitted to the Neurological Clinics of University Teaching Hospitals in Romania to which the authors are affiliated. In accordance with national legislation and the Declaration of Helsinki, all patients had to sign the written consent form of the teaching hospital before enrolment in the ELEGANCE study. According to Romanian national legislation and institutional policies at the time of the study, non‑interventional observational studies based solely on data collected during routine clinical care and covered by the hospital’s informed consent do not require separate approval from a research ethics committee; therefore, no additional ethics committee approval was sought.
