: Written official approval (#PE/EA/1204-4/2021) for the experimental protocols was provided by the Scientific Ethic Council of Animal Experiments and the Food Chain Safety and Animal Health Directorate Government Office. According to this statement and the corresponding definition by law in Hungary, the current non-invasive observational studies are not considered to be animal experiments. We also received the necessary permission from the University Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee UIACUC. All methods were carried out in accordance with the local committees’ guidelines and reported in accordance with ARRIVE guidelines. Human ethical approval to collect information from the dog owners (#2022-24) was received from the United Ethical Review Committee for Research in Psychology.
