: All subjects are permanently housed together in an enriched outdoor aviary (500 × 250 × 300 cm, size of one enclosure) on the territory of the Lomonosov Moscow State University Botanical Garden. The crows are kept on an ad libitum diet (rat and mouse carcasses, steamed crops and seeds with added vegetable oil and vitamins, eggs, seasonal fruits and vegetables, and fresh water). If the crows refused to work in the experiment, then they received food without animal protein for 1 or 2 days.All experiments were appetitive, non-invasive and based exclusively on behavioural tests. They were conducted in full compliance with the bioethical requirements of Directive 2010/63/EU and Federal Law of 27.12.2018 N498-FZ (ed. of 27.12.2019) "On Responsible Treatment of Animals and Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation". All applicable international, national and institutional guidelines for the care and use of animals were followed.
