: The study was carried out on private land (Hoekwill, private garden) with permission of the landowners and of CapeNature, Western Cape (permit number 0056-AAA007-00226). Sunbird mist-netting and ringing was performed in attendance by bird ringers with valid SAFRING permits. Birds were handled carefully and released immediately after the procedure.
