: This study involved blood sampling from domestic dogs of shepherds and park rangers. The sampling protocol was assessed and approved by the biodiversity and scientific research service of Gran Paradiso National Park. The owners of the dogs included in the study provided their verbal informed consent for animal blood sampling. Collection of blood samples was carried out by veterinarians adhering to the regulations and guidelines on animal welfare.
