: DNA samples from beavers were collected either from carcasses or as by-products during animal marking procedures where all applicable institutional and national guidelines for the care and use of animals were followed. The sampling and handling of the animals were in line with a derogation on the Decision of the Flemish Government on species protection and species management of 15 May 2009 and later amendments to that legislation (permit ANB/BL/FF-V19-00209–212 issued by the Agency for Nature and Forests (ANB)).
