Ethics statement: All bat species are protected in the UK, and all fieldwork was conducted under licences issued by Natural England (2025-84552-CL19/20-BAT & 2023-66463-SCI-SCI Nathusius Project). Bat capture, handling, ringing, and tagging procedures followed established best-practice guidelines of the Bat Conservation Trust and EUROBATS. From 2021 onwards, enhanced biosecurity procedures were implemented in accordance with IUCN SSC Bat Specialist Group field hygiene guidelines.
