: This study was a single-center, retrospective study wherein only the medical records and resected specimens that had already been obtained from the patients were used; therefore, we did not have written consent from the participants. However, all the patients were informed in writing at the time of treatment that the specimens obtained from the treatment may be used in future clinical research, and consent was signed by all patients. A notice was posted on the website of the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, which provided an opportunity to the patients to give informed consent or refuse from research participation. This study was approved by the Tokyo Medical and Dental University School of Medicine Ethics Review Board (approval number: M2018-191), and all the procedures were performed in accordance with the principles of Declaration of Helsinki, 1964 and its later amendments.
