: The study was approved by the Makerere University School of Public Health ((Protocol number 210), the Columbia University (Protocol AAAK3852) ethics committees, and the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST, Protocol SS 2969).
: The participants offered written assent, and their caregivers provided additional consent before participating in the study. All research assistants received Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and CITI (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative) training. Data collection tools were translated into Luganda and back translated into English by experts from the Institute of Languages at Makerere University. Luganda is the most widely used language in the study area.
