: As of October 2011, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu sets out the rules regarding housing and maintenance conditions as well as experimental procedures that need to be met in order to be authorized to carry out experimental procedures on animals as well as to rear or supply animals for this purpose, underlined in Sect. 4 of the Animal Research Ethics Guidelines on the protection of animals (ExternalRef removed). The application of this decree therefore requires a request for ethical approval. The prawn used in this study were obtained from the UMT hatchery and were reared for growing purposes. We declare that the prawns were not subject to any kind of killing through dissection, the application of the decree regarding this study did not require any ethical approval.
