: In Brazil, the current animal protective legislation (law no. 11.794, 2008, Brazil) does not require the approval of studies with decapod crustaceans by an Animal Welfare Committee. Nevertheless, this study was performed in a research facility laboratory from a Brazilian federal university and followed the recommended commercial and academic standards for prawn farming, including adequate water quality and proper feed quality and ratio. Torpor with thermal shock was induced before euthanasia. This research does not contain any study with cephalopods, vertebrates, or humans.
: This study was part of Luana Cagol PhD thesis. The authors declare no additional conflict of interest.
