: This study ensures that all commercial farmed fish procedures were strictly adhered to Norwegian ethical standards. The fish were slaughtered at their respective farms according to a standard protocol (QuantiDoc AS), following established guidelines that prioritize animal welfare and humane treatment. The wild Atlantic salmon were captured in fjords and handled according to guidelines for ethical treatment. They were sampled immediately postmortem for analysis according to a standard protocol (QuantiDoc AS).
