: The experiment adhered to the Norwegian Regulation on Animal Experimentation (FOR-2015–06-18–761) and was conducted at NTNU SeaLab, Trondheim, Norway, which is an approved facility for performing experiments with fish (National Animal Experimental Facility No. 154). All sampled and surviving cod larvae were euthanized with an anesthetic overdose of tricaine methanesulfonate (MS222, ScanVacc AS, Norway) prior to any further processing. As no regulated procedures were performed, approval by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority was not deemed necessary.
