: No animals were killed specifically for use in this study. American mink carcasses were obtained from various projects that were unrelated with this study and aimed to eradicate invasive species to implement nature protection plans within bird conservation projects. According to the National Ethics Committee for Animal Experiments resolution no. 22/2006, permission from the Local Ethics Committee for Animal Experimentation in Poland is not required for the use of tissue samples from animals acquired in the course of other projects.
