: We would like to acknowledge that this research was facilitated in part by two authors’ former business activities as co-members of the company that produced the training stimulus materials for this study. Our study was conducted in conjunction with the development of this training product. The research results did partially inform our development of the product (e.g., the choice to include videos). However, the research study was completed well in advance of the finalized training product, did not inform other training choices (e.g., interactive knowledge checks, content, etc.), and does not represent a holistic test of the finalized product's effectiveness. We do not state the name of our company or training program in the manuscript so as not to use the research as a form of advertisement. Lastly, the two involved authors have chosen to close the involved business entity at the end of 2022, and they do not plan on continuing to pursue the sale of the related training product. We believe that the timing of the research (i.e., during product development, rather than after), and its scope (i.e., testing one component of a much larger training program) as well as taking care to not use the manuscript as a form of advertisement, and the impending close of the involved business mitigate any potential conflict of interest.
: All procedures and measures described in this manuscript were approved by the Internal Review Board for Research on Human Subjects at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in accordance with the ethical principles outlined in the 1979 Belmont Report: respect for persons, beneficence, and justice. Our approval number for the main study is E19-30, and our approval number for the manipulation check study is: E22-17.
