: This research was conducted in accordance with the ethical standards of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Code of Ethics of the World Medical Association. The University at Buffalo Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved this study. The participating school’s director ensured FERPA and HIPAA compliance.
: Families were given a 2-week time period to respond whether they wanted their student to participate in the study. No consequences of any kind were enforced for not participating. Students whose families opted out engaged in the school’s adapted PE classes (offered daily) as usual. Informed consent was gathered from parents or legal guardians of those children found to meet inclusion criteria who were willing and able to participate. Assent of students was not formally tracked.
