: Until the present, Russia has no formal requirements for ethical clearance when work with human subjects is conducted. At the time when anthropological field research used in the article was conducted, Uppsala University required no formal clearance and a National Ethical board did not exist in Sweden. Research has been conducted following the document Good Research Practice published by the Swedish National Science Foundation. I have also followed strictly the recommendations for ethical research in Anthropology published by leading professional organizations in the field, like the American Anthropological Association, The Anthropological Association of Britain, and later the guides for social science research issued by EU. Research participants have given their consent orally, after careful description of the research objectives and topic, and the possible implications from it.
