: We have used the term ‘mental illness’ throughout this article, as it is the term used to describe eligibility for membership to the International Clubhouse Model. However, we acknowledge that this is not always the language that people with lived experience prefer. During the project, we discussed with members their preferred language and used terminology like ‘mental health concerns’, ‘mental health diagnoses’ and ‘mental ill-health’.
