: These research activities on Lake Trout in Sherbrooke Lake were approved by the Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) committee at Acadia University (protocol number 09-21R#2A#1) and were performed pursuant to Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) Section 52 of the Fishery (General) Regulations SOR 93–53, under the authority of licence number 366371.
: The FFRC grant funds that supported this project were provided by the Nova Scotia Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture (NSDFA), which Andrew G. Lowles is a paid employee of. It is standard practice for employees of the NSDFA to provide technical assistance to FFRC-funded research projects, which Andrew G. Lowles specifically did so. It is not a stated requirement for FFRC-funded research projects to be published, nor is it a stated requirement for NSDFA employees to be included as authors on said research projects. This was a personal decision by the corresponding author (Matthew G. Warner) to include Andrew G. Lowles as a co-author for both his personal and professional support of this project.
