: All personnel involved in the project were trained in animal care protocols. Individuals were collected under a Scientific Collection Permit (permit number: 1779) provided by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, and animal and experimental procedures were approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of Austin Peay State University (protocol number 21–004). Test subjects were humanely euthanized with tricaine methanesulfonate (MS222) following their final behavioral assay and individuals in the stimulus shoal continued to be kept communally in the stimulus housing tank.
