: Fish were handled and treated following the technical specifications for the production, care, and use of laboratory animals issued in the Official Mexican Standards (NOM-062-ZOO-1999) and according to the Research Ethics Committee (CEI-UABC-GU2010) of the Autonomous University of Baja California, Mexico, based on international guidelines.
