: All subjects gave their informed consent for inclusion before they participated in the study. Given that the majority of the subjects were non-literate, the authors obtained verbal consent to participate from each subject listening to and confirming their understanding of the objectives of the study. Also, prior to data gathering, the design and data collection instruments underwent a thorough review and triangulation by a very senior researcher from a University in Ghana. As an expert in gender and livelihoods, the expert reviewed all the tools to ensure they meet ethical standards, gender-responsive and minimum quality.
