: Permission to conduct this study was obtained from the Associação de Moradores do Quilombo do Campinho (AMOQC) through Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC). To secure this agreement, two preliminary community meetings were held: (i) to identify local research needs and (ii) to present the research proposal for approval by AMOQC. The research proposal was also approved by the Ethics Committee on Human Research at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (Protocol No. 654/2020) and registered in the System for Permits and Information in Biodiversity (SISBIO – Protocol No. 89192-1).
